This writer has recently completed watching the documentary series, The Beatles: Get Back, directed and produced by Peter Jackson, which features in-studio footage shot in early 1969 of the recording of The Beatles’ 1970 album Let It Be. I would have referred to it as the *new* Beatles documentary, if it wasn’t for the fact that I was watching it a few months after almost everyone else. Though I always think there’s something to be said for dipping into the new thing, post-hype, when it’s not quite as new and the shininess of it isn’t dazzling everybody into making uncritical gushing judgement. That’s what I tell myself, anyway, as I approach the curve everyone else has already swept around.
